About Dave...

Dave was a fantastic but humble athlete, excelling in baseball, basketball and football. He was considered one of the best ever to compete for Concordia University where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame (below). Dave also spent two years pitching for the New York Yankee baseball farm system playing in the California League.

In 2001, Dave was inducted into the Concordia University Hall of Fame, (Seward, NE) which pays tribute and gives recognition to former athletes who have made exceptional contributions to the athletic programs at Concordia, which Dave attended in 1954-56. Here is the summary:

Some people consider Dave Faszholz as one of the best athletes ever to compete for Concordia. The three-sport athlete spent two years in the New York Yankee baseball farm system before his 1954-56 participation at Concordia. In 1956, Faszholz set the school single-season win record for pitching seven of the Bulldogs’ 11 baseball victories and batted .467. A pass receiver and punter in football, his average of 39.3 yards per punt was a season record. The 1955-56 All-CCCC basketball pick averaged 14.2 rebounds per game and scored 319 points in 21 games.

But even more than playing sports, his passion was teaching and coaching which he did for over 40 years in Houston, TX. Students of all ages loved and admired him for his quick wit, tall good looks and amusing, larger-than-life personality. In a caring way, he provided structure, discipline and example for an ordered life.

Additionally, Dave was passionate about travel and believed everyone should get out to see the world and experience different cultures. He and Jean were fortunate enough to travel the world and always had a bag or two packed 'just in case' a next trip was right around the corner. But where they spent nearly every summer, was at the beloved cabin in Wilsonia situated in majestic Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in California.

Dave certainly lived life with gusto, enthusiasm and excitement for the next adventure.  He was very blessed to have had excellent health for the majority of his life which allowed him to "do it all!"
